About Me

My name is Oumou Diallo, and I am an aspiring instructional designer. I am currently a candidate for a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with Honors at Spelman College and teacher certification through GASPC. I love being an educator and am excited to expand my skills to a digital medium.

I was born in NYC; however, I have lived most of my life in Paris, France. Overseas, I gained insight into the beauty of French history, gastronomy, and language. I was also fortunate to spend most of my early childhood, middle, and high school education in the French and U.K. systems. As the prospect of higher education inched closer, I decided to pack my bags and immerse myself in prime HBCU culture at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that I became confident in my desire to become an educator. Observing the rare sight of the global education system shifting to an online model motivated me to want to create accessible and engaging e-learning material.

Classroom experience

At the end of my sophomore year, I immersed myself in a teacher-certification program at Spelman, which allowed me to be a student teacher in Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Public Schools while earning my Elementary Education Degree. My approach to pedagogy is personable and relational. I firmly believe that building a positive learning environment for students is to have a relationship with the students. I have had amazing experiences in the classroom and will warmly remember all of my students as having changed my outlook on life and the importance of education.
